The H.P. Spectre x360 (2020) is an excellent option for anyone in the market for a solid notebook. Even in the shadow of its heir, the HP Spectre x360 (2021), it can hold its own, rocking double the RAM of prior models alongside Fleur-de-lis Plus integrated graphics and the Intel Core i7-1065G7 CPU. And, IT stands pointed-toe-to-toe with some of the best laptops come out of the closet on that point.

It's more stunning than when the line first launched, keeping the line's loved gem-cut design while offer a gorgeous 4K touch screen option across all configurations, which is certainly a wanted improvement.
Unfortunately, backpacking that powerful hardware into such a supple chassis does have its drawbacks. The HP Spectre x360 (2020) runs pretty hot, specially if you're victimization it for demanding tasks much as 3D rendition operating theatre 4K video editing. Of course, it's zero gaming machine either; the lack of a fitting nontextual matter card agency that the latest big games will be beyond your reach. The HP Spectre x360 does toll more than many 2-in-1s available on the market right instantly, although you'll struggle to find one with the same untreated select of design and performance.
The drawbacks don't outweigh the benefits, though - non even appressed – and these problems really aren't unique to it either. There's nobelium laptop light that tail end play games better, or do heat more efficiently. As the sum of its parts, the HP Spectre x360 2022 is a sexy, powerful machine that will brawl whatever you ask of information technology.
Of path, all that glitz comes with a price tag to match. Our sit filaree in at $1,749.99 (around £1,350, AU$2,600), which is none small sum to earnings for a laptop, but we'll get more into that later. The Horsepower Spectre x360 does cost more than many 2-in-1s available on the market right now, although you'll struggle to find unrivaled with the same injured character of design and performance.
Packing that strong hardware into such a slender soma does have its drawbacks, of line. The HP Fantasm x360 runs jolly heatable, particularly if you'rhenium using it for demanding tasks so much as 3D translation or 4K video redaction.
This is zero gaming simple machine either; the lack of a proper art batting order means that the up-to-the-minute big games will be on the far side your reach. However, the Fleur-de-lis Plus artwork can handle more than you might gestate at bring dow resolutions - perfect for pose games, OR downcast-poly indie titles.
The drawbacks don't preponderate the benefits, though - not equal close. And these problems really aren't unique to the HP Spectre x360 (2020), either; in that location's no laptop lighter than the HP Spectre x360 (2020) that can play games better, or manage heat many with efficiency. Overall, the pricing is what we'd expect for a premium 2-in-1 laptop. IT leans towards the expensive side of meat, but you aim what you pay for here; the HP Spectre x360's condescending design and performance are valuable the high price. It's also worth noting that the HP Spectre x360 (2020) does come with HP's Tilt Pen, a decent intense stylus.
Design
Straight impermissible of the box, it's clear that the HP Spectre x360 (2020) is a high-quality piece of hardware. The brushed gold finish means the whole laptop feels robust, and the same build lineament extends to the namesake 360-degree flexible joint that enables it to swap between laptop and tab modes.
Naturally, weight is a factor here. Despite its sturdy chassis, the HP Ghost x360 (2020) is as lightweight as they come, weighing in at just over a kilo. It's unhurried to hold in one and only hand, and the near bezel-less screen means that the overall size up is only a little larger than the display itself.
It's impressively bladed, too; perhaps non the absolute thinnest and lightest laptop on the market, simply IT's up there with the other major contenders. However, that super-thin design means that there's limited elbow room for heat management inside the showcase.
The HP Spectre x360 (2020)'s cooling system is handled by two small fans that sit together on the base of the laptop computer, and while they do feed quietly (unless you'Ra thrashing the CPU with demanding software), they're not particularly powerful. The HP Spectre x360 (2020) butt sustain quite an hot during periods of long use, never to a concerning degree merely perhaps to an uncomfortable one if it's actually sitting on your lap.
Luckily, the rest of the design is free such engineering mishaps. As we said, the sort bezel is practically not-existent, and the presentation itself is a sublime AMOLED panel. Blacks are black A pitch, piece bright colors pop with vibrance and the utmost brightness is great even in well-lit spaces.
The keyboard is also a joy to use, piano backlit in white with nice large keys despite the compact design. There's no numpad - and the pointer keys are frustratingly truncated - but these are issues that plague almost all 13-inch convertible laptop. The trackpad definitely beats out many an of its generation, though, with a wide touch area and satisfyingly firm fall into place.
Physical connectivity is well-handled, with two Bolt of lightning 3 enabled USB-C ports and a single USB-A port that opens on a sprung clasp; the embrasure itself is bigger than the super-thin margin of the laptop computer, and so information technology snaps winking when non in use. It's a nifty bit of design that we've seen before, simply rarely finished this intimately.
Connexion those ports are a headphone jack and microSD card reader, although we do wonder if Horsepower should have sprung for a dedicated AC charging port. The HP Spectre x360 charges via USB-C, leaving you with one inferior porthole if you neediness to use it plugged in.
Benchmarks
Here's how the HP Shade x360 (2020) performed in our suite of benchmark tests:
Cinebench CPU: 687 points

Performance
Intel's 10th-generation laptop CPUs force their weight then some, so pairing one with a solid 16GB of high-speed RAM means that the HP Apparition x360 (2020) chews up everyday work tasks with relaxation. Network browsing, flowing videos, and exploitation the Microsoft Role software suite are all smooth and easy to do on the HP Spectre x360.
This 2-in-1 International Relations and Security Network't satisfied with just that, of course. More complex tasks like rendering and TV encoding are more of an option here thanks to the expanded memory and new, more powerful C.P.U.. Of course, if you're working with high-intensity software connected the regular, you power want a system with a more powerful graphics result.
The Flag Plus graphics controlled older integrated nontextual matter in our tests, powering through with high scores in our graphical tests compared to previous models. Performance in our Cinebench rendition benchmark wasn't quite Eastern Samoa magnificent, just was still good for an ultralight laptop computer.
Gaming connected the H.P. Spectre x360 (2020) is emphatically an option too, although only at the decidedly casual end of the spectrum. Recent triple-A releases aren't likely to run well without severely dropping the result and graphical quality, but slightly older games or titles without exigent graphics should run very well. We enjoyed a spot of Tomb Pillager and the excellent indie gem FTL: Quicker Than Light with good performance at 1080p.
There are some integrated features boasted past the HP Spectre x360 that all fall under uncomparable umbrella: privacy. This is the nonesuch laptop for anyone wary of the risks posed aside an online mien, with multiple features organized to keep you and your data secure.
Foremost up is a now-common laptop feature, the Windows How-do-you-do function. Using an IR camera array connected to the x360's HD webcam, you can log into your laptop using your face, even in poorly lit conditions (i.e. when you're curled rising in bed trying to watch Netflix).
Future is the photographic camera kill switch, a physical interchange on the broadside of the laptop that manually cuts power to the webcam for added security. There's also a fingermark scanner just below the keyboard, letting you login quickly if you don't neediness to use Windows Hello.
Barrage fire life
Battery life is one of the only areas where the HP Spectre x360 (2020) doesn't outright excel. The battery life is still good; standard use will see IT sunset all study day, around 10 hours, without needing to charge. As with old models of the HP Spectre x360, higher intensity tasks testament batter that battery, cutting it down as low as 4 hours.
It's keen, although it's actually slightly below previous configurations of the HP Spectre x360. The 2022 model actually performed better in barrage fire tests, just only away a small margin. All that fancy new hardware has taken its toll.
The battery does tutelage quite fast thanks to the USB-C connector, charging from empty to 100% in barely to a higher degree an hour. It's easy to charge while in use, too, thanks to the angular USB-C port ensuring that the big businessman cable North Korean won't enter your way.
